I believe he performed ballroom dancing with Mary Ganley for a time but don't have a source for this. Mary Ganley appeared in productions with Bowers on Broadway and in film.

WOW! Was informed by this from my Website designer. I was 4 years old when in the original ANNIE GET YOUR GUN starring -yes- Ethel Merman -and Kenny Bowers. I was the youngest Oakley sister - started as a charcter called the little Girl with the lampshade hat-till I was old enough to play Nellie-and proceeded through the run of the show as I got older - and played all the sisters in the 3 year run. Kenny played the tap dancer/ singer juvenile opposite Betty Ann Nyman.

I've looked for information on Kenny Bowers on the internet several times over the past few years and am very happy to see there's finally a site for him. I'm sure you'll want to know that there's an error in the section on "Glad To See You." The composer's name is Jule Styne (not Jack). I manage the Jule Styne office and have good scans of the original color flyer
for the show and of the sheet music cover, which we'd be happy to provide if you'd like to add them.
Thanks for the site -

Webmaster NOTE: Thanks. We have corrected this error.

Dear Sirs, how do I get to be a member of Kenny Bowers fan club? I would like to join. I would like to know what happened to him after the 50's. He lived till 1991 so about 30 years of not seeing him. Was he ever married? Does he have family around today?
Why is he buried with a stranger and they share toubstones? There are so many things I want to find out. Thanks so much! Kenny is one of my favorites!
Thanks again

Webmaster NOTE: Kenny Bowers (1924-1991) is buried with stage actor Wilfred C. Reynier (1852-1928) and they do share a tombstone. Both are buried in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York in an area belonging to The Actors Fund.

Great site! I have always loved Kenny Bowers and glad someone finally put together a site for him. Even more interesting to see others are searching for info on him.
I want to know if he sings on the Broadway cast album. Btw, there's a 45 release of "Weach For The Wafter, Santa" and the b-side is "An Axe, An Apple and A Buckskin Jacket". It was a Chritsmas single - both sides are comedy Christmas songs.

Webmaster NOTE: From a Billboard artcle dated March 29, 1952, we read: "...only ten days after the May 16, 1946, Broadway opening, star Ethel Merman was in a recording studio with other members of the stage production to record 12 songs from the show for release on a six-disc 78 rpm album six weeks later. For reasons not yet explained, second leads Betty Ann Nyman and Kenny Bowers were not present, and for the recording of their duet "Who Do You Love, I Hope?," they were replaced by Robert Lenn and Kathleen Carnes."

So, to answer your question... no, Kenny did not sing on the Broadway cast album of "Annie Get Your Gun."
